Wait 30 minutes after eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum before collecting the sample.
Before you start
Keep the sponge clean. Don’t let it touch any surface before collection.

STEP 1
Start on one side.
Open the package and remove the collector without touching the sponge.
Place the sponge as far back in the mouth as comfortable. Gently rub back and forth along the lower gums 10 times. Avoid the teeth if possible.
STEP 2
Now the other side.
Repeat the same motion along the lower gums on the other side 10 times.
STEP 3
Open the tube.
Hold the tube upright so the liquid inside doesn’t spill.
Unscrew the blue cap without touching the sponge.
Put the sponge in the tube.
STEP 4
Turn the cap upside down and place the sponge into the tube.
Close the cap tightly.
STEP 5
Give it a good shake.
Turn the capped tube upside down and shake vigorously 10 times.
You did it.
Your sample is collected.
Now let’s get it safely on its way.
Place the closed collection tube inside the included biohazard bag and seal the bag.
BAG IT.
Record the sample collection time on the Shipping Manifest and place it in the pre-labled shipping pouch.
RECORD THE TIME.
Place the sealed biohazard bag containing the sample inside the shipping pouch.
PACK IT.
SEAL IT.
Remove the adhesive strip and securely close the shipping pouch.
SEND IT.
Drop off the sealed pouch at a UPS location or schedule a UPS pickup.
What happens next?
We’re still with you.
Once your sample reaches the lab, the testing process begins.
We’ll send you an update about halfway through so you know where things stand and when to expect your results.
Most results are completed within about 5 weeks of your sample arriving at the lab.
When your results are ready our genetic DNAVisit, our genetic counseling partner, will contact you to schedule time to discuss your results.
